What is a surfboard rental?

Print Bookmark & share
When renting a surfboard you are getting an elongated board used in the sport of surfing. They are quite light, but strong enough to support a single person standing on them while riding a wave. They were invented in Hawaii, they were known as papa he‘e nalu in the Hawaiian tongue, usually made of wood from local trees, and were often more than 15 feet (5 m) in length and very heavy. Major advances over the years include the addition of one or more fins on the bottom rear of the board to help with directional stability, and numerous improvements in materials and shape. Modern surfboards are made of polyurethane or polystyrene foam covered with layers of fiberglass, cloth and polyester or epoxy resin. The result is a light and strong surfboard that is buoyant and maneuverable. Recent developments in surfboards have included the use of carbon fiber.

How much does it cost to rent a surfboard?
Companies have varied prices, some range from $46.75 for 24 hours to $102.00 for 5 days, or more.
