Fort Walton Beach-Okaloosa Island Banana Boat Rides

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do banana boat rides take place in the Gulf of Mexico?

Most banana boat rides will take you out into the beautiful emerald waters of the Gulf of Mexico. This does vary, however, depending on multiple conditions including the tour company you select, weather conditions, currents, waves, etc. If the Gulf of Mexico is too rough or unsafe, banana boat rides will take place in the calmer waters of the Choctawhatchee Bay!

2. Is there an age limit?

Customers must be 18 to book this activity, and this activity is for ages 5 and up only.

3. Are there any weight restrictions?

Depending on the tour company, there will either be a minimum of 2 or 4 guests to depart, with a maximum of 6 passengers. The minimum weight required for a banana boat rider is 50 pounds.

4. Are banana boat rides handicap accessible?

Unfortunately, banana boat rides are not handicap accessible. Anyone with back, knee, or neck problems should not do this activity. Expectant mothers are not allowed to participate. Due to the nature of this activity, those with mobility difficulties are unable to participate, as well.

5. Are banana boat rides safe?

Absolutely, you’re in good hands! Each banana boat tour comes with a certified captain and experienced crew. All safety equipment, like life vests, are included. The crew will be sure to give instructions prior to departure, so all you’ll have to do is jump on, make like a banana, and split!
