Jamie is a great boat capt!

Online booking was fast and easy and I saved 10%! My confirmation was texted to me. I called and confirmed my tour time with Jean Lafitte and got some directions. The place is very easy to find. It's about a 30 minute drive from downtown Nola. There's a ton of signage leading you right to it. There is plenty of free parking too! Once inside they give you a ticket and show you to your boat. There was already a handful of gators surrounding our covered pontoon boat before we even left the dock! There is a ramp to the boat instead of stairs which was nice. On board there is bathrooms and you can purchase snacks from your captain. Jamie was our captain and he was VERY funny and informative. I had no idea that alligators were colorblind! The trip was a leisurely cruise (not a thrill ride like... read more

Great Tour, Terrible Communications on Pick Up Location

So, the morning of the tour, I woke up super early to be picked up at my hotel and I was very excited about the tour. Well, knowing it was a trip to the swamp and I still wasn't picked up I called to check on the pickup time. Well over a hour later and several transferred phone calls, I found that they did not pick up at my hotel! Even though they had sent me confirmation details. Luckily, I was speaking directly with the manager of Jean Lafitte swamp tour and she made arrangements to have me picked up for a later tour, at a different location. After all of that, the tour itself was really awesome and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

    Swamp and bayou tour

It was disappointing. Not what I expected. Nothing much to see except a couple of little alligators and a couple of blue herons. The bayou we saw not what I expected. Just a canal with little atmosphere.

    Cold, No Gators

We were told that gators don't really come out on colder and overcast days. We did see 1, but wasn't able to get photos. We did see some other wildlife, but we were hoping to see some gators. Staff was great so we are thankful for that. If you're planning to go, wait until it is sunny and warmer than 40 degrees!

This turned out to be a fun tour. Everyone thought I was crazy because I went nuts when i saw the gators, but we don't see them in Canada! The tour was narrated and the guide was fun. Our trip to New Orleans was fabulous!
