First time to New Orleans
I had a blast. I actually did the zoo and the aquarium in the same day. If it's you and your significant other, go to the zoo first thing in the morning. If you dont stop and take pictures of the animals, you can do the zoo in 2 hours. The funniest part of our trip to the zoo was the reptile building that had the green anaconda and 6 other snakes in it. My husband and i are not too fond of snakes but after a little convincing i got him to go in, so he took a few step in and i was by the door and i pointed up to the big snake hanging from the ceiling (it was of course fake) but he hauled butt out of there. There were a couple of things that i was disappointed about. The first one was a couple of the exhibits were closed. The second was how much the zoo cafe is charging for their food. For 2 bacon cheeseburgers, 1 regular order of fries, a small bag of cheetos, and 2 drinks( one fountain, one 20oz bottle) it cost $25. The other food vendors they had in there were closed. I would suggest bringing your own food and drinks with you to avoid high priced stuff. As far as the aquarium is concerned, it took us an hour to walk the whole thing and that includes doing the hurricane simulator. We parked in the parking garage that is attached to the mall and paid $15 for 3 hours. My only concern was for the 2 of the sharks at the bottom of the tank. They were still breathing but one was on its side and both were not moving.
