While some tours advertise themselves as "shuttle" or "taxi" services to Crab Island, there are actually no legitimate taxi or shuttle options that pick up and drop off at Crab Island. This is because Crab Island is a submerged sandbar, not a true island, and it is illegal for charter operations to offer direct drop-offs due to safety concerns. In the event of sudden bad weather, there would be no safe or quick way to evacuate participants. Although some might consider using a rented pontoon boat to transport groups to Crab Island, this would violate rental agreements and could result in cancellation or penalties. Additionally, exceeding the 12-person or weight limit on a pontoon in such situations increases the risk of accidents and endangers everyone involved. For these reasons, only private watercraft or officially sanctioned tours that stay with their passengers are allowed.
