Yes, it's absolutely safe for teens, but they need to be supervised and there are some hazards they need to be aware of. Even though Crab Island is a sandbar, there are seriously strong currents on all sides, especially near the bridge. Even the best swimmers can't make it out. Also, Crab Island during the afternoon can become more adult orientated with louder music and drinking. Keep an eye on your teens and take advantage of the other activities such as swimming, lounging, interacting with vendors, paddleboarding and many other fun things.
