If you're hoping to see a baby dolphin on a Destin dolphin tour, the best time to visit is between May and August, when most bottlenose dolphin calves are born. During the summer months, it's common to spot newborn dolphins swimming closely alongside their mothers as they travel through Destin Harbor, East Pass, and the surrounding Gulf waters. You can often identify a calf by its much smaller size and the way it surfaces almost in sync with its mother. While baby dolphins can be seen throughout the year because Destin is home to a resident population of bottlenose dolphins, your chances are highest during the late spring and summer when newborns are most abundant.
