Don't assume your day is ruined just because it's raining. In Destin, those summer showers are often over in an hour or two. If there's no lightning and the seas aren't too rough, a lot of dolphin cruises, fishing charters, and even some snorkeling trips still go out. You might get a little wet, but chances are you were planning on getting wet anyway. Just check with the tour operator before heading to the marina. If you'd rather stay dry, it's a good excuse to explore somewhere like HarborWalk Village or Destin Commons. Grab lunch, browse the shops, or just hang out until the rain passes. You could also head over to Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park, which has both indoor exhibits and covered areas. One thing I've learned living around here is not to cancel your plans too early. I've seen plenty of mornings with dark skies turn into beautiful beach afternoons. The weather changes fast on the Emerald Coast, so unless it's an all day storm system, there's a good chance you'll still get some beach time.
