In my experience, the first trip of the day often has a slight advantage, but it is not because the fish follow a schedule. It is mostly because the water is usually calmer in the morning, which means better visibility. When the water is clear, you naturally notice a lot more marine life because you can see farther in every direction. By the afternoon, especially during the summer, the wind often picks up and there is more boat traffic around Destin. That can stir up the water a little and make it harder to spot fish that are actually still there. The marine life itself does not suddenly disappear after lunch. You are still likely to see schools of fish, crabs, sea stars, and sometimes rays throughout the day. The difference is that morning conditions often make those sightings easier. Another thing I like about early trips is that the snorkeling areas are usually a little quieter before the busiest part of the day. It just feels more relaxed when there are fewer boats nearby and everyone is taking their time in the water. That being said, I have been on plenty of afternoon trips where guests saw incredible marine life because the weather happened to stay calm all day. If I were booking for my own family and had complete flexibility, I would probably choose a morning departure. It gives you the best chance at clear water, comfortable temperatures, and excellent visibility.
