If you only have 1 full day here, skip trying to cram in 5 different attractions and focus on the things that make Destin feel different from other beach towns. Start your morning with some time on the beach before the crowds build up because the water is usually calmer and clearer early in the day. After that, book some kind of boat-based activity, like a Crab Island excursion, pontoon rental, or dolphin cruise. The harbor and the water are really what define Destin. Around lunch, grab fresh seafood somewhere along the harbor and spend a little time just walking around HarborWalk Village watching charter boats come and go. A lot of visitors underestimate how much time traffic and parking can take up during busy seasons. If you can end the day with a sunset cruise or simply watching the sunset from the harbor, you'll leave with a much better feel for Destin.
