Most visitors spend between 3 and 5 hours at Crab Island. That generally provides enough time for the boat ride, swimming, floating, relaxing, eating, and enjoying the sandbar before returning to the dock. Many guided excursions are also scheduled for approximately this amount of time.
If you're renting a pontoon boat, most rental companies offer either half-day or full-day rentals. A half-day rental typically provides enough time to travel to Crab Island, spend several hours there, and return without feeling rushed. Full-day rentals allow more flexibility to visit additional destinations, stop for lunch at waterfront restaurants, or explore other parts of the harbor and surrounding waterways before or after your time at Crab Island. Private captained charters also follow these time allotments.
Keep in mind that Crab Island has no shade, so the amount of time you choose to stay may also depend on weather conditions, temperatures, and the amount of sun exposure you're comfortable with. Planning your visit around your rental period or tour duration is usually the simplest way to determine how long to stay.
