A sailing charter is very different from a dolphin speedboat tour or pirate cruise. The focus is on relaxing, enjoying the scenery, and experiencing Hilton Head from the water rather than moving quickly from one destination to another. Most sailing charters spend much of the trip cruising through the Calibogue Sound, where you'll have views of the shoreline, marshes, and landmarks like Harbour Town Lighthouse. Dolphin sightings are common, but they are a bonus rather than the primary purpose of the trip. Because the boat is powered by the wind whenever conditions allow, the pace is slower and quieter than a motorboat excursion. If you're looking for a peaceful outing, a sunset sail or daytime sailing charter is one of the most relaxing experiences on Hilton Head. If you want high-speed thrills or multiple activity stops, you'll probably be happier with a dolphin speedboat tour or a fishing charter instead.
