While dolphin sightings can never be guaranteed, there are a few ways to improve your chances. Dolphins are commonly seen throughout St. Andrews Bay and around Shell Island, especially in areas where baitfish are active. Morning rentals often have lighter boat traffic and calmer water, making wildlife easier to spot, although dolphins can be seen at any time of day. Cruising at a moderate speed, staying alert near channel edges and open-water areas, and watching for birds or other boaters observing wildlife can also help. Since dolphins are wild animals, every outing is different, but many renters encounter them while simply exploring the bay.
