Feeding behavior also changes with seasonal bait movement. When bait fish are gathered in certain areas, dolphins can become more active and focused there, which leads to better chances of seeing longer surface activity. In spring, you often get a mix of behaviors as conditions change and pods adjust to changing water temperatures and food sources. Captains notice that the water itself feels calm or active depending on the time of year, which can influence how easily dolphins are spotted. Summer brings a lot of boat traffic, which can also change where dolphins choose to travel during the day.
