There are certain areas that remain popular throughout much of the season. Crab Island is an example because it attracts both locals and visitors whenever conditions are favorable. Areas around East Pass also stay active because of the constant movement of fishing boats, rental vessels, sightseeing tours, and recreational traffic. Waterfront restaurants and popular gathering spots usually create pockets of activity even on otherwise quiet weekdays. A calm day on land does not always translate into empty waterways. Destin has a strong boating culture, and many people take advantage of good conditions whenever they can. Crowded does not necessarily mean unpleasant. Most of these areas are popular for a reason. They offer great scenery, interesting activity, and a chance to experience some of the most recognizable parts of the local boating scene.
