There are definitely trips that give you a chance to do both, and those are some of my favorites because they break the day up really nicely. Instead of only cruising around or only swimming, you get a mix of both experiences. The captain may spend part of the trip looking for dolphins, then head over to a calm area where everyone can hop in the water and cool off for a while. I always tell people that wildlife is never on a schedule, so no captain can promise exactly when or where dolphins will appear, but combining sightseeing with swimming gives you more to enjoy throughout the trip. Even if the dolphins take a little while to show up, you are still having a great day on the water instead of waiting for one specific moment. Families seem to like this kind of trip because the kids stay interested the whole time.
