The easiest water activity in Key West for a first timer is a boat tour or dolphin cruise. That is about as low stress as it gets. You are not doing anything that needs expertise, nobody expects you to know how anything works, and you are not responsible for anything once you step on board. You just show up, get settled, and the crew handles the rest while you ease into being on the water. Most people who are nervous at first usually forget about it pretty quickly once the boat pulls away from the dock. What makes it a good starting point is that you still get the full Key West water experience without jumping straight into something like snorkeling or anything that feels more involved. You can watch for dolphins, see the coastline, and just enjoy being out there. I have seen a lot of first timers start with something like that, and then the next day they feel confident enough to try something a little more active.
