It depends on the type of tour you book, but most Key West boat tours are actually more riding than stopping. On a typical dolphin cruise or sightseeing trip, you are moving most of the time and just cruising through different areas while the crew points things out or looks for wildlife. You might slow down or pause when dolphins show up, but it is not usually long stops where you get off the boat or anything like that. If you go with something like a snorkeling trip or a sandbar trip, that is where you start getting more actual stop time. Those usually have a clear destination where the boat anchors, and you spend a good chunk of the trip in one spot. So in that case, it flips a bit, where the ride gets you there, and then you stay put for a while. I have noticed people sometimes expect a lot of hopping on and off locations, but Key West tours are more about either cruising continuously or anchoring in one main spot rather than stopping at multiple places all day.
