If you only have one day in Key West, many visitors recommend splitting the experience between Old Town and the water. You can spend the morning exploring Duval Street, the Southernmost Point, Ernest Hemingway Home, or the Key West Historic Seaport before heading out for an afternoon snorkeling trip, dolphin watch, sandbar excursion, or sunset sail. Experiencing both the island and the surrounding water gives a better sense of what makes Key West unique.
