A snorkeling tour more involves going out to a specific reef area where the main focus is getting in the water and swimming around to see fish and coral. You usually stop at one or two spots, and there is more activity in the experience because you are in and out of the water, getting geared up, and moving around in the ocean. A sandbar trip is the opposite in a lot of ways. Instead of snorkeling or exploring underwater, you are anchoring in shallow, calm water and just hanging out. People usually float, relax, play music, swim a little, or just stay on the boat. Snorkeling is better if you want to see marine life up close and do something a bit more active. Sandbar trips are better if you want a laid back, social kind of day on the water.
