One thing to start with is a dolphin cruise or a sightseeing boat tour. The reason I always point people to that first is that you do not have to do anything other than show up and sit down. No gear, no instructions you need to remember, no jumping in the water, nothing like that. You just ease into it while the crew handles everything and the boat does the work. In the first few minutes, you might be a little aware of the movement, but once you are out of the harbor and just cruising, you should settle in pretty fast. I have seen a lot of people use that as their starter experience, then the next day, they feel more confident trying something like snorkeling or a pontoon rental because they already know how they react on the water.
