The best way to see dolphins around Santa Rosa Beach is to book a dedicated dolphin cruise instead of hoping to spot them from the beach. Most cruises spend their time in Choctawhatchee Bay, where bottlenose dolphins are seen regularly, and the captains know the areas they often travel through. That still does not mean anyone can promise a sighting, because they are wild animals, but your chances are much better when you are with someone who is on the water every day. If you have some flexibility, I would recommend a morning trip because the water is often calmer and there is less boat traffic. Later afternoon works as well. If dolphins show up, the captain will often slow down and give everyone time to watch and take pictures.
