In summer on Hilton Head things tend to book up much faster than people expect, especially anything on the water like dolphin cruises, kayak tours, and private boat charters because demand is high and time slots are limited. During peak weeks in June and July, popular morning and sunset departures often fill 3 to 7 days in advance and sometimes even earlier for weekends or holiday periods like the 4th of July. Smaller boats or experiences with fewer seats usually go first since there is less availability per departure. In slower months like spring or early fall, the pace is a lot more relaxed and you can often book just a couple of days ahead or even same day depending on weather and demand. The big difference is that summer visitors are all competing for the same prime time windows, while in the off season there is more flexibility and fewer people trying to lock in the same experiences at the same time. What I usually tell people is that summer on Hilton Head is not really a wait and see situation if there is something specific you want to do on the water, because by the time you decide, the best time slots are often already taken. The easiest way to avoid that stress is to book the main activity first, then build your beach time, meals, and other plans around it instead of treating it like something you squeeze in later in the trip.
