When it is really hot in the middle of the day around Hilton Head, the best move is to lean into anything that keeps you either on the water or in shaded, slower paced spots so you are not fighting the heat. A dolphin cruise or sightseeing boat ride is one of the easiest options because you get constant airflow on the water and do not have to stand around in the sun. Kayaking through the marshes is another good one if you want something a little more active but still shaded since a lot of those creeks are lined with trees and feel cooler than the open beach. If you are not trying to be on the water, Harbour Town or Shelter Cove are both solid midday choices because you can walk in and out of shops, grab lunch, and sit near the marina where there is usually a breeze coming off the water. The beach can still work too if you set it up right with an umbrella or cabana and plan on just relaxing instead of being active in the sun during peak hours. What I usually tell people is midday in Hilton Head is not really the time to try to do a lot of moving around or activity hopping, it is better to pick one comfortable spot, stay put for a couple of hours, and then pick things back up later in the afternoon when it starts to cool down a bit.
