A good rule of thumb is about 30 to 60 minutes before your departure time. Traffic along Gulf Boulevard can back up quickly during summer and weekends, and parking near marinas or docks can take longer than expected, especially if you are not familiar with the area. Even if the drive is only (10min to 15min) on a map, it can easily turn into longer once you factor in lights, pedestrians, and finding the actual lot. Once you arrive, you also want time for check in, walking from parking to the dock, and getting oriented without feeling rushed. Most operators will have a short boarding window, and if you are late, boats usually do not wait because they run on tight schedules with other trips right after yours.
