Most of the time the captains are adjusting the route more than they are doing full changes, meaning they will shift between open Gulf areas and more protected spots like St Andrews Bay or stay closer to Shell Island depending on how the water is feeling that day. On a typical stretch of good weather, you might not notice any major change at all, because the plan they start with is already flexible enough to handle normal conditions. Where you see changes more often is during breezy afternoons or after a front passes through, and even then, it is usually more about staying in calmer water rather than canceling anything or cutting the experience short. The captains know these waters really well, so they are constantly reading the wind direction and wave patterns and making small decisions in real time to keep the ride comfortable, especially for families and first timers.
