With younger kids, dolphin tours are usually pretty good at keeping them engaged, but there is a mix of excitement and a little downtime depending on what is happening with the dolphins that day. The most active parts for kids are the cruising sections where you are moving through the bay and they are scanning the water for dolphins, birds, and other boats, and then the moments when dolphins actually appear, because that is when everyone gets focused and excited at once. Those sightings tend to be the highlight and usually reset attention spans right away. There can be some quieter stretches in between sightings where the boat is just cruising slowly or the captain is scanning areas where dolphins are known to pass through. That part is usually calm and relaxed rather than boring, but younger kids who are used to constant activity might need snacks, shade, or something small to keep them occupied for a few minutes. Most boats are set up with open seating and shade areas, so families usually move around a bit or settle into comfortable spots depending on how the kids are doing.
