I would plan to leave earlier than you think you need, mainly because it is not just the drive time that slows things down, it is everything around it. Traffic along Front Beach Road and Middle Beach Road can back up quickly during peak hours, and then you still have to factor in parking, walking from lots, and finding the exact dock since many marinas have multiple check in areas. A good rule of thumb is to leave your hotel about 60 to 90 minutes before your departure time if you are more than a short walk or quick drive away. If you are staying closer in the main beach corridor, you can sometimes get away with less, but anything involving crossing town or heading to a busy marina near peak times really benefits from that extra buffer.
