Yes, there are times of year around Panama City Beach when you can experience more dolphin sightings, even though you can see them year round. Late spring through early fall is when people usually feel like they are seeing dolphins more often on tours. That is mostly because the water is warmer, bait fish are more active near the surface, and dolphins are spending more time moving through the bay and near Shell Island feeding areas. Summer tends to be very reliable simply because boat traffic increases too, and that activity can sometimes stir up bait fish, which brings dolphins closer to the same routes tour boats are already using. In the cooler months, you can still absolutely see dolphins, and many days are actually very good. They may travel wider areas or stay deeper in certain spots depending on water temperature and food sources, so captains sometimes have to work a bit more to locate them compared to peak warm season months. What I usually tell people is that if you are visiting during spring or summer in Panama City Beach, you are already in a strong window for dolphin activity. Outside of that, sightings are still common, just a little more dependent on timing and conditions on the specific day you go out.
