It can be an excellent low-stimulation beach experience for some children, but the boat ride and lack of facilities may create challenges for others. Once away from busy landing areas, Shell Island can be considerably quieter than developed Panama City Beach beaches. However, boat engines, wind, intense sunlight, sand, waves, crowds near drop-off areas, and the inability to immediately leave the island should all factor into the decision.
