Out on Shell Island, you should expect cell service to be kind of hit or miss rather than something you can rely on the whole time. When you are closer to the mainland or still in the pass on the way out, most phones will usually pick up a decent signal, but once you are actually out on the island and especially if you walk a bit away from where the boats drop off, it can drop down to one bar or disappear completely depending on your carrier. Verizon tends to hold up a little better out there, AT and T is usually okay but inconsistent, and T-Mobile can get pretty spotty once you are fully on the island. It also changes a bit day to day based on how many people are out there and how your phone is bouncing off towers across the water.
