At Shell Island, there are easier access spots for older family members. Most of the time, captains try to get as close as they safely can to a flatter, more gradual stretch of shoreline so people are not jumping into deep water or walking far through waves. The landing area is usually shallow, so it is more like stepping down into knee deep or waist deep water and then a short walk onto sand rather than anything steep or difficult. That part is manageable for most people as long as they are steady on their feet. Where it gets easier or harder is what happens after that initial drop off. The closer you stay to the main landing zone, the less walking is involved, and that is typically where groups with mobility concerns will set up. If you move farther down the beach, it spreads out, and you get more space, but that also means you are walking more on soft sand, which can be tiring for someone who does not want to go far.
