Once you are actually up in the air parasailing, most of the interaction with the crew is minimal, but you are not completely disconnected either. Everything technical is handled from the boat the whole time, so the captain is controlling speed, line length, and your height. What you do get is occasional communication, usually through simple hand signals or shouting up if conditions are calm enough, especially when they are about to adjust your height or start bringing you back down. Most of the time though, once you are settled in the air, it is quiet and self guided. If anything changes, like wind shifts or they are lining you up for landing, you might notice more attention from the crew as they get ready on the boat, but it is still all controlled from below. They are constantly watching you and coordinating with each other, even if you are not actively talking back and forth.
