It can be an excellent option because a private rental gives your family much more control over the environment than a shared sightseeing cruise. You control the music, stops, pace and group, and you can leave a busy anchoring area if it becomes overwhelming. The harder sensory elements may be engine noise, wind, bright sun, life jackets, wakes from other vessels and crowded island areas, so a quieter weekday or morning rental may be the better choice.
