A pontoon used for a normal day of cruising, swimming and island hopping generally burns much less fuel than a high-performance boat, but there is no useful one-size-fits-all gallon estimate. Fuel consumption depends on the boat's engine, passenger load, speed, distance traveled and how much time you spend anchored. A leisurely day around Orange Beach's back bays and islands will use considerably less fuel than running at higher speeds for most of an eight-hour rental. Ask the operator for a realistic fuel estimate for the specific boat and route you're considering. Some operators do include fuel as part of the cost, so be sure to check each listing for accurate information.
