You should return the boat reasonably clean and remove all of your trash and belongings, but you generally aren't expected to scrub the vessel like you're trying to earn your security deposit back from an apartment complex. Rental companies handle normal cleaning between customers, while excessive mud, food, spilled drinks, stains, fish mess, pet hair, or other unusual cleanup may result in additional charges depending on the operator. Bring a trash bag and do a quick sweep before returning to the marina, especially after a full day with kids and coolers.
