Destin rentals often revolve around Crab Island and Choctawhatchee Bay, while Orange Beach gives you a network of back bays, the Intracoastal Waterway, Old River, coves, and island areas such as Robinson and Bird islands. Orange Beach feels more like exploring connected coastal waterways than simply making Crab Island the destination, so I'd rent again if your family actually enjoys boating rather than treating the two experiences as duplicates.
