Some jet skis are rated for 3 people, but 2 adults and 1 kid are not always as comfortable as it sounds when you are actually out there. It depends on the size of the jet ski, the weight limit, and the child’s age. Sitting at the dock, it may seem fine, but once you start turning, slowing down, hitting small wakes, and trying to balance together, it can feel tight pretty quickly. The driver needs enough room to steer and shift weight, and the person in the middle can feel squeezed, especially if the child is nervous and holding on hard. For a calm cruise, it might be okay if the kid is smaller and everyone is under the weight limit, but I would not plan on a fast or sporty ride with 3 people. A lot of families are perfectly happy doing 2 Jet Skis if there are enough adults who can drive, or putting 1 adult with the child and letting the other adult ride separately.
