Most places will explain the riding area at the dock, and some will also show you a map or a marked photo of the water so you can picture where you are allowed to go. I would not count on getting handed a paper map to carry with you, because once you are on a Jet Ski, you do not want loose stuff flying around or getting wet. The crew usually points out the main landmarks, where the no wake zones are, where Crab Island sits, which direction you can ride, and which areas they do not want you going near, especially around the pass, docks, marinas, or heavy boat traffic. Some companies have boundaries on the Jet Ski or a tracking system, but you still need to pay attention because you are the one steering. If you are not familiar with Destin water, ask them to explain it. I would also ask what landmark to look for when it is time to come back, because everything can look different once you are out on the water with boats moving around.
