Some spots might be allowed by the rental company, but still may not be great for a first time jet ski driver, especially during busy summer days. The area around Crab Island can be fun to see, but it gets crowded with anchored boats, pontoons, swimmers, paddleboards, and people moving in every direction, so it is not always the easiest place to practice turns. Any narrow channel, marina entrance, dock area, or spot near the bridge is a place where I would take it slow and stay extra aware. The East Pass area is another one I would ask about before going anywhere near it, because current and boat traffic can change quickly, and many rental companies do not want renters riding close to them. For a beginner, the better plan is usually to get out of the tight traffic areas first, find the calmer riding zone they point you toward, and build confidence there before cruising around the busier landmarks.
