A guided jet ski tour is the better choice if nobody in your group knows the Destin waterways. With a rental, you get more freedom, but you are also responsible for watching boundaries, reading the water, and staying out of restricted areas. That can be a lot to think about when you are still learning how the jet ski handles. A guided tour gives you someone to follow, and that takes a lot of pressure off. The guide already knows the no wake zones, the better riding areas, where traffic gets tight, and where conditions may not be great that day. It can also be nicer if you want to see more than just the area right around the rental dock, because the guide can lead the group without everyone trying to figure it out on their own.
