Usually yes. Unless gratuity is specifically included, tipping the captain is customary for good service. At least one major Destin tiki operator recommends 15–20%, and some private charters also charge a separate captain or crew fee that explicitly does not include gratuity. Read the pricing carefully because "crew fee" and "tip" are not necessarily the same thing. You can filter TripShock listings by All-Inclusive to find experiences that are paid entirely upfront, but do not assume that covers the tip. It is advisable to bring cash, although certain operators may accept Venmo, Cash App, or other payment methods.
