Tide timing matters more than simply choosing morning or afternoon. Crab Island's famous clear emerald water is influenced by Gulf water moving through nearby East Pass, so water clarity can change considerably with the tide. Check the tide for the date of the trip rather than assuming every midday departure will have identical water conditions.
