The clearest snorkeling water in Destin is on morning trips, especially after a calm night and around high tide. Early departures around 8am to 10am give spots near Norriego Point, Destin East Pass, and the jetties a better chance of looking clearer before wind, boat traffic, and afternoon chop stir things up. The tide matters just as much as the clock, because incoming Gulf water brings cleaner water through East Pass, while outgoing bay water from Choctawhatchee Bay has more grass, sand, and cloudiness mixed in.
