It can be if the itinerary deliberately favors the area's natural, historic, and cultural side. Brookgreen Gardens, Huntington Beach State Park, Murrells Inlet, quieter beach communities, fishing, nature experiences, and coastal day trips can replace most of the neon-attraction circuit. Myrtle contains plenty of unapologetic tourism, but it doesn't need to be a trip requirement.
