Not exactly. Okaloosa Island is the barrier-island beach area immediately south of mainland Fort Walton Beach. Visitors cross Brooks Bridge between downtown Fort Walton Beach and Okaloosa Island, where many of the area's beachfront condos, hotels, public beach accesses, Gulfarium, The Boardwalk, and Island Pier are located. This distinction matters because a property described as being in Fort Walton Beach may not actually be on the Gulf.
