Okaloosa Island is an excellent choice for visitors prioritizing beach access, family attractions, boating, and a somewhat simpler vacation base. Destin has more concentrated harbor activity and nightlife, while Okaloosa Island puts Gulfarium, The Boardwalk, Island Pier, beaches, and multiple watersports operators close together. Visitors can still drive into Destin when a particular attraction calls for it instead of living in Destin traffic all week.
