Parts of the Crab Island area can be seen from the eastern end of Okaloosa Island and nearby waterways, but seeing it is not the same as visiting it. Crab Island is a submerged sandbar in Choctawhatchee Bay near Destin Pass and is designed to be reached by boat or other appropriate watercraft. Visitors wanting the actual swimming-and-floating experience need transportation onto the water.
