It can be, particularly for families that value easy beach access and a smaller cluster of nearby attractions over a larger entertainment district. Gulfarium, The Boardwalk, Island Pier, public beaches, mini golf and family entertainment, and boating departures are all concentrated on or near the island. Destin remains close enough for a day or evening trip when the family wants something specific there.
