Rental boats are allowed near the Fort Pickens area only when that route is inside the rental company’s approved boundary, so it is not a free ride right up to every shoreline or into Pensacola Pass. Many Pensacola Beach pontoon rentals stay in protected water around Santa Rosa Sound, Sand Island, and Pensacola Bay.
